Hello! Thank you for visiting my site. I’m Joanna, the founder of Black Eyed Susan Consulting, a down-to-earth personal development practice dedicated to cultivating an individual’s authenticity and success through coaching, consulting and training.
I am a compassionate and skilled listener who genuinely engages individuals to help them develop their skills to navigate everyday challenges, unearth their personal power and grow their emotional aptitude leading to enriched relationships and personal satisfaction.
Prior to launching my consulting practice, I spent my career working in Human Resources in a variety of positions in the non-profit sector, culminating with the Director of Human Resources for an organization serving people in poverty.
The impact our organization had on the lives of the people we served was incredible and I was fortunate to be a part of it. But when I finally accepted the fact that the scope and responsibilities of my position were pulling me farther and farther away from the work I found most gratifying and meaningful, I made the bold decision to step aside and get back to my roots of helping people realize their true potential.
I hold an M.A. in Organizational Leadership & Strategic Management from St. Catherine’s University, a B.S. in Communication Disorders from Moorhead State University and the following certifications:
- Multi Health Systems (MHS) EQ-i2.0™ (Emotional Quotient Inventory) & EQ360™
- Real Colors® Facilitator
- Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
- SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCPSM)
- John Kotter’s Leading Bold Change™
No doubt my education and work experience have served me well in helping others. However, my most significant growth has come from life’s painful moments and the realization that my own limiting beliefs, suppression of self and fear were prohibiting me from living a joyful and freedom-filled life.
I have felt stuck, afraid, confused and isolated beyond belief and I have learned that the path to happiness and success truly is an inside job. A path that begins with self-awareness.
“Let us remember that our life’s purpose is to live – to live freely, vibrantly, joyously, madly, consciously, lovingly, enthusiastically.” Brendon Burchard, The Motivation Manifesto
